Glitches are often seen as something that needs to be fixed, but in reality, they possess power against systems that expect certain outcomes. Through this I see the language of glitch as a way to explore gender, and alos protect queer and trans bodies from unwanted reglatory gaze. These works, consisting of photographic self-portraits, glitched with the databending process, explore the ideas of representational refusal and the protection and understanding that glitch can offer. By embracing the label of glitch, we create digital havens—vital places for exploring gender expression and personal identity without fear of punishment. Through the safety they provide, digital realities often become more important and vibrant than our AFK (away from keyboard) existence.
